Rainbow Bridge Farewell to a
Dachshund
So long in body, bold in bark,
I owned the world below,
With digging paws and daring eyes,
I put on quite a show.
From couch-top leaps to blanket dens,
I tunneled through your heart,
And every stretch and stubborn sass
was always off the chart.
Now heaven fits my length just right,
with beds that never end,
And angels laugh as I demand more
snacks to taste and send.
Don’t cry too long — just keep my sweater
folded near your bed,
For I’m that tiny shadow
still curled beneath your head.
