Boxer
I bounced like springs on silly feet,
my jowls a flapping blur,
With playful punches, leaping joy,
and loyalty so pure.
A Boxer’s grin, a wild spin,
a cuddle on the floor —
I made the world more ridiculous,
and you loved me even more.
Now heaven has no “down, boy!” calls,
no leash to slow my speed,
I box with clouds and chase the stars,
and beg for angel treats.
If ever joy erupts in you
and lifts you from the gray,
It’s me — your clown, your loyal brute —
still lighting up your day.
